This is an ongoing project of designing and installing 144 kW Li+ battery energy storage system in an existing, master-metered, multi-family apartment building in Con Edison service territory with support from NYSERDA’s ETAC program. The project team undertook a highly data-driven approach to optimize the battery storage system size/capacity, conduct solar PV feasibility, design safety features way above AHJ requirements, and develop battery dispatch logic to address multiple value streams in addition to demand shaving. The presenter shall address challenges associated with the construction of an indoor battery energy storage system in an interactive presentation.
In an engaging way, the presentation shall make a concerted effort in the direction of developing a realistic program model for indoor placement of Li+ battery energy storage system specifically addressing; building design, electrical layout, data requirements, safety features, space requirements, and site logistics. Additionally, the “full stack value” of garnering utility peak demand reductions, supply ICAP tag value reduction and generating revenue from NYISO DR and Con Edison’s DR program shall be elaborated.
