Dale leads and manages McKinstry’s efforts to reduce operating costs, improve infrastructure and save energy in the built environment for clients in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Since arriving at McKinstry’s Spokane office in 2010, he has created customer-focused solutions, honed McKinstry’s strategic vision and grown the company’s Energy and Technical Services business with major clients like Washington State University, Avista and Spokane County.


Dale has worked in the industry since 1990 and has decades of experience in business start-up, engineering (consulting, energy and value), management (sales, program and business), facility auditing and project development. He leads teams currently developing district and renewable energy solutions, eco-districts, smart building applications, and building/energy grid optimization.


Outside of McKinstry, Dale has served on the board of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council (NEEC) and was an adjunct professor at Eastern Washington University for six years. His passion for youth and their development led him to volunteer for several STEM/math programs, coach youth sports for 10 years and provide leadership for his local PTA. He currently serves on the board of Greater Spokane Incorporated (GSI) as well as GSI’s STEM Executive Committee board.


Dale earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho and his Master of Business Administration degree from Idaho State University. Dale serves as Vice President for McKinstry Essention, LLC and is based in our Spokane, Wash. office.
